How connecting works
Start from Get started, pick your nonprofit, choose how you want to give, and approve the connection on Square. There is nothing to install on your devices and nothing changes about how you ring people up. Your sales start reporting in the moment the connection lands, and your dashboard totals every donation.
The ask, on Square
Choose the customer-pays ask and we add a Donation item to your Square catalog with $1, $5, and $10 buttons. Your staff offers it and rings it like anything else you sell, and it prints on the receipt with the rest of the order.
One tip from counters running it: pin the Donation item to your checkout screen so nobody has to search for it mid-rush.
Statements and refunds
At the end of the month you get one statement and pay your nonprofit directly - the money never routes through us. Refunds take care of themselves: refund a sale and its donation comes back off your total automatically.
Common questions
Will anything change on my Square hardware?
No. Square hardware does not show customer-facing prompts from apps like ours, so there is nothing new on your screens. The pledge runs invisibly, and the ask is your staff offering the Donation item, with your counter signage doing the telling.
Do tips round up?
No. The round-up is calculated on the sale itself; gratuities are left out.
What about refunds?
Refund a sale and its donation is reversed automatically, once, so your statement matches what actually happened.
Can I switch modes later?
Yes. The mode is a switch in Settings and takes effect right away.
